In an official announcement, the organizing committee for the 17th edition of the Peace Torch Relay called "Flambeau de la Paix" revealed a change in the schedule of the event the much-anticipated torch relay will now take place on November 4 , 2023 at Muyinga Stadium The journey of the relay will start and end on December 19, 2023 at the Nkurunziza Peace Park Complex Stadium in Makamba.
The history of the Peace Torch Relay began in 2006, just one year after it was inaugurated by the late President Pierre Nkurunziza. Over the years, the event has played an important role in shaping citizens’ sentiment towards development policies, promoting peace, encouraging social cohesion and inspiring Burundian citizens to actively contribute to the realization of the 2040 vision of the emerging Burundi
Epipod Baranyikwa, the man that serves as coordinator of the organizing committee and holds a key position in the presidency declared, "We warmly invite the people of Burundi to participate wholeheartedly in this wonderful event."
The organizing committee and the mediation team took the opportunity to invite the Burundian public to an open and active participation in this important activity.
